When it comes to critical thinking and problem solving I’ve always been number and logic focused. For the GPM assignment, there were several instances that the numbers didn’t mean as much as the underlying meaning and the whole reason for doing the assignment. The assignment may have seemed like a drag and tedious but it was aimed at not only getting an idea of how much time I spent on activities but also critically thinking on why I spent more time on certain activities. The assignment also required that we take a look at how the decisions I’m making now effect my preferred future. This ties in with my work-life balance and my decision to put my life ahead of my work and spending too much time relaxing and being unproductive rather than working towards my future goals.
In order to continue improving in this area, I plan on improving my organization and planning skills. I feel that in order for me to critically think I need time and not pressure myself into settling. By allocating the proper amount and allowing myself to step back to analyze the big picture I feel like I will conduct better analysis regardless of the issue. By using a daily planner, I will be able to map out my time ahead of time and ensure I’m spending more time on the things that will help me towards my future path and goals rather than procrastinating and regretting my decisions later on.
